As soon as their foundation in Paris at the start of the 2000s, the Quatuor Caliente started to draw attention on the stage of Tango Nuevo. Made up of four eclectic and passionate musicians, the quatuor is the winner in 2004 of the “Piazzolla Music Award”, which was given at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Milan, before recording their first successful album Libertango for the Aeon / Harmonia Mundi label.

Their interpretations and recordings are publically and critically acclaimed. The discography of the Quatuor Caliente also includes two other recordings released on Aeon (a live performance featuring the Argentinian singer Débora Russ, and the striking Encuentro with the guitarist Laurent Colombani and the vibraphone player Vincent Maillard). More recently, the release of the Double A album marks a new step in the artistic development of the quatuor, while celebrating their 20th anniversary.

Their large repertoire now incorporates, in addition to numerous works by Astor Piazzolla, pieces by Horacio Salgan, Julian Plaza, Anibal Troïlo, Pedro Laurenz, Antonio Agri, Alejandro Scarpino…and also today’s composers such as Juan José Mosalini, Pablo Ziegler, Thomas Bordalejo, or of course Gustavo Beytelman – for each member of the quatuor, while paying tribute to tradition, is eager to keep the tango of our time alive, which is the evidence of a living and constantly evolving music.

The Quatuor Caliente and their guests regularly perform throughout France and Europe (Swiss, Italy, Belgium…). A large number of venues or prestigious events have already had the opportunity to welcome them: the Théâtre de l’Européen, the New Morning, the Petit Journal Montparnasse, the Duc des Lombards, the Théâtre Mouffetard, the Parc Floral, the musical season and the Festival de Radio France, the Opéra de Lyon, the national stages of Guadeloupe and Martinique, the Labeaume en Musiques festival, the season of the Epau Abbey…among many others. The quatuor has also been invited many times to the international festival “Virtuosi” in Recife (Brazil), every time receiving a warm and enthusiastic welcome. In their projects for the next seasons they will make their debut in Asia, with scheduled concerts in Taïwan and China.

Since their creation, the Quatuor Caliente has been regularly invited and broadcast on the waves of France Musique (Un Mardi idéal, La Matinale, En Direct des festivals…), France Inter (Le Fou du roi, Le Pop club…), France Télévisions, as well as on TSF and FIP radios, and the music TV channel Mezzo.
